Each Tuesday we frequent the Early Intervention center to go to “school”. Lyla has the privilege of bouncing around the clown-colored motor skills gym, having snack time with her classmates all lady-like at the table made for elves, strumming the guitar with her music therapist, and showing the boys how it’s done when crawling through a tunnel.
If there was a sport for tunnel racing, Lyla would break the World Record.
Of course the lure of being able to put her sticky fingers all over my large-faced lens at the other end of the wormhole is enticing enough to sprint through as well.
You see, besides photographer, this is my other job: therapist. I feel like I’ve acquired through osmosis a PhD in Physical, Occupational, Speech, Music, and Developmental Therapy all within 21 months. That’s got to be a World Record as well.
All of the weekly homework and textbook reading is so worth it at the end of the day when girlfriend reaches her mountainous milestones from the help of our extensive crew. We are more than grateful that a team like this exists. A team that I naively didn’t know existed 22 months ago.
This post is dedicated to all of the therapists out there who dedicate their lives to better others. A sincere thank you from this advancing home and many, many others just like our own.
Haha. Yes, how did we absorb SOOO much information in less than two years??? Imagine if we tracked just HOW much time we spend reading and learning (but I love every minute of it!). PS I can't believe how big Lyla is...she is such a big girl now. I love it. Here's to the therapists! And to mommy "surrogate" early intervention therapists!
